Encyclopedia
Yuzu sake is a sake-based liqueur, refined with the juice of the Japanese yuzu fruit. Yuzu is a rare citrus fruit from Japan that tastes somewhere between lemon, tangerine and grapefruit. The result is a harmonious combination of mild rice wine and fresh, slightly tart fruit.
Fun Fact
The yuzu fruit is so intensely aromatic that, in Japan, it’s often not eaten on its own but used almost exclusively for sauces, drinks and desserts. In Japanese baths, yuzu is even placed in the hot water — a traditional ritual at the start of winter that’s believed to promote health and wellbeing.
