Sake is a traditional Japanese beverage made by fermenting rice. It is often referred to as “rice wine”, but it is in fact quite different to wine since it is brewed – similar to beer. Zenbu organic sake is produced using rice from certified organic cultivation and without the use of chemical additives. This gives the drink a particularly pure character and emphasises the naturalness of Japanese brewing craft.

Practical tip
Sake can of course be enjoyed at room temperature. But Zenbu organic sake can also be served cold (5–10°C) as well as warm (40–55°C). The serving temperature influences the texture and aroma. The higher the temperature, the fuller and rounder the taste.

The Japanese national drink sake is brewed from fermented rice and water. The origins of sake are thought to date back to around 300 BC, when wet rice cultivation was introduced in Japan.
Fun Fact
Sake has a history of over 2,000 years in Japan and was originally used exclusively in religious ceremonies. Even today, sake is offered in Shintō shrines as the “drink of the gods”. The term “organic sake” is relatively new in Japan — traditional breweries use it to connect age-old brewing craft with modern sustainability standards.
